Why I Love Fiji
Fiji is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and since most of the population is English-speaking, it’s easy to communicate with the native people and to truly get a feel for what the island has to offer. I’m a huge Rugby fan, and since Fiji has a very good international Rugby team, I love to catch a match whenever I visit.

What’s Notable About Fiji
Fiji is actually a nation comprised of 322 islands. Only one-third of these are populated by man, however. All of the islands are covered in lush forests, and have high mountainous regions. Because of the landscape, the tallest building in Fiji is only 14 stories tall! Viti Levu offers the most in terms of tourism, however there are many different day-trips available for those who want to branch out and see some of the local attractions instead of focusing only on the major tourist destinations.

Atlanta, Georgia is one of the ten most highly populated cities in the U.S., with a population of a little over 5 million people. Atlanta, like most other U.S. cities was originally inhabited by Native Americans. The Cherokee are thought to have originated the area that is now Atlanta. The city wouldn’t remain quiet for long however, when it became the terminal city for a western expansion railway system in the mid-1860s.

Why I Love Atlanta
Today’s Atlanta is nothing like the settlement of the 1800s, although it definitely is as busy or busier than the railroad terminal built in the 1860s.Atlanta had an important role in the advancement of civil rights, with Black Colleges and Dr. Martin Luther King working together to further desegregation.

What’s Notable About Atlanta
During the 1960s, Atlanta was one of the only southern U.S. cities to boycott segregation efforts, using instead a campaign that the city of Atlanta was “too busy to hate”. The majority of the population is African American, most likely as a result of the continual support for racial integration throughout the city. Atlanta contains the third largest number of fortune 500 company headquarters, and it is also the location of Coca-Cola and Home Depot’s corporate headquarters.

Beijing probably has more bicycles than any other city in the entire world! Most people use bicycles as their main means of transportation in Beijing. And, you will quickly see that the people o Beijing have black, shiny hair and very dark eyes. Anything else on a native – and you can assume that it’s fake! Beijing is a loud and exciting city, where there’s always something happening.

Why I Love Beijing
I love Beijing, because it’s one of the most authentic cities that I have ever visited. The city is rich in tradition, while definitely moving forward into the future. Some of my favorite sites include the Great Wall, The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. And, an afternoon of browsing on Wangfujing Street is something you definitely shouldn’t miss!

What’s Notable About Beijing
Beijing is the capital of China, and it will be host to the 2008 Summer Olympics. Construction is underway now in preparation. The city was founded sometime between 400-300 B.C., and was much different then than the city is now. Because of over-population, Beijing is experiencing many urban development problems similar to those of other modern countries; traffic, pollution and a migration of the poor to urban areas.

There are many historical neighborhoods, which have definitely not lost their early American charm. There are plenty of places for outdoor recreation in Arlington Heights, particular the bike paths that run along the banks of the river.

Arlington County is not legally permitted to be the location of any federal government institutions. So, although the Pentagon is actually located in Arlington, the post office requires that the address be given as Washington, D.C. Many people do not realize this! Arlington is also known for its Smart Growth development strategies, which dictate that all new construction be built in areas accessible by the major roadways.

Here in Halifax, you will find Pier-21, which is actually sometimes called the Canadian Ellis Island. In the 1840s, Nova Scotia actually began to function under its own government – marking the province as the first British colony in North America to do so. In the late 1860s, Nova Scotia became a part of Canada.

Believe it or not, there is actually evidence of Native Americans living in the Miami, Florida area as many as 12,000 years ago. One of the twin cities, St. Paul actually became a city before Minnesota became a state!
